ingredients

  • 6 cups flour
  • 2 cups Crisco
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (or margerine)
  • 1 teaspoon vanillia
  • Directions

    Cut Crisco into flour and work through until all (most) lumps are out of Crisco. Add eggs work through. Add yeast and milk and work through a little at a time. Knead into soft dough and place in refrigerator over night.

    Mix filling (walnuts, sugar, cinnamon, melted butter, vanilla) , roll pieces of dough out on floured board approximately 1/4 of an inch. Cut off ragged edges (use center of rolled out dough). Cut dough into squares approximately 3 inches by 3 inches. Place approximately 1 tablespoon of filling in center of square. Roll up like a crescent shape. "Bend" into a U type. Place on PAM sprayed cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees 20-30 minutes or until light brown. Dust with powdered sugar.

    Note: For filling can use from 1 cup to 1.5 cups of finely chopped walnuts.
